Major repairs are planned for the Coral Springs water treatment plant, signaling a significant infrastructure update for the area.
At the May 6 meeting, following discussion about the water treatment plant’s needs, the commission approved a contract award of $5,392,579 to Conti LLC of Sterling Heights, Michigan, for the rehabilitation of four treatment units at the city’s water treatment plant. The work will address aging infrastructure and replace obsolete parts, according to city information.
Further detailing the scope of work, the project involves the rehabilitation and repair of selected components within the treatment units: rotor assembly, existing catwalk, steel plating, doors, concrete, protective coatings, and replacement of chemical piping.
According to Paula Rubiano, city spokesperson, these components are exposed to the elements and operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to city information, this work is for the water treatment plant serving the City of Coral Springs Water District, located at 3800 NW 85th Avenue.
The project’s origins can be traced to the city’s ten-year capital improvement plan. Coral Springs staff and the city’s engineering consultant also considered how to maintain water production during the new plant’s design and construction. To support this, the engineering consultant provided repair recommendations and prepared construction plans, according to Rubiano.
In addition to the water treatment plant project, the commission also approved a $760,000 contract for school crossing guard services to Waterfield Florida Staffing, doing business as Action Labor. The contract runs from May 6, 2026, through September 19, 2027, according to city information.
