
J.P. Taravella Cheerleading Team. {BCAA}
Cheerleading season is officially underway, with four schools impressing at the District Championship on Saturday, and two teams winning titles.
Coral Springs Charter won first place in Game Day Cheer.
“I am honored to coach such a strong and talented group of young women,” Head Coach McKenzie Palumbo said. “They work so hard for these moments, and I am humbled to watch it all pay off.”
Their team features Alexandria Boul, Charlee Hollins, Kaitlyn Stewart, Kendall Broeckelmann, Kenley Rogers, Lilia Conticello, Lucia Sclafani, Peyton Moser, Richelle Williams, Riley Partlan, Skylie Costanzo, Sophie Spann, Addyson Weiler, Genna Aiello, and Jiselle Arias.
J.P. Taravella finished in first place in the medium non-tumbling division. Head coach Julie Fernandez says she couldn’t be prouder of her team as they have a tremendous bond and truly support each other.
“The heart and level of determination that they show each day is something special,” Fernandez said. “Winning the BCAA District Championship is a reflection of their commitment to one another and their love for this sport.”
Their team consists of Genesis Alas, Karice Alvarado, Rosa Barahona, Bryanna Baez, Jayda Bustamante, Nadka-Alesha Dareus, Tamaryn Douglas, India Jackson, Camila King, Agam Ohana, Alyssa Rodelo, Aiden Ryscik, Kenisha Saliba, Kaliah Smith, Kaylah Smith, Lauren Toomey, Isabella Villalobos, and Abigail Caballero.
The Coral Glades cheerleading team placed second in the large non-tumbling division on Saturday.
Haley Swickle, Silvana Piedrahita, Ryleigh Williamson, Kiersten Eaton, Anastasia Carrasco, Makinlee Dominguez, Lory Piloto, Kaylie Santiago Arenas, Nathalie Arbelaez Henao, and Noelle Brooks, Azariah Cisrow, Ava Rose Stout, Ashlyn Rodriguez, Jada Brown, Cassie Richardson, Kennedy Dulauier, Anne Butterfield, Liliana Pridgen, Aaliyah Beecher, Shermier Higgs, Lauraine Benjamin, and Jayda Amaya
Head coach Alison Madej says she could not be prouder of the team’s performance and looks forward to continued growth as they head into the most challenging part of the season.
Coral Springs High School finished in third place in the small non-tumbling division.
“Our team took the mat at districts and put on a clean performance, head coach Amanda Mortimer said.”They fought the entire routine, and we cannot wait to put in more work to fight for a bid for nationals.
The Colts feature Kelis Richmond, Aubrey Vance, Mya Hamze, Anaysia Thompson, McKenzie Drakes, Juliana Dacunha, Sofia Dasilva, Aneika Francois, Arielle Ross, Aubrey Bushell, Makayla Nixon, and Aliyah Hernandez.
Next, these four teams will compete at the UCA Regionals on Saturday, December 13, before competing in the FHSAA Regionals on January 9.
