A 27-year-old Coral Springs man was arrested Tuesday for pointing his loaded pistol at another driver during a road-rage incident, court records show.
The victim was driving a black Infiniti QX56 SUV east on Northwest 52nd Avenue near Coral Ridge Drive shortly before 1:30 p.m. when Erick Martinez, driving a black 2013 Cadillac, cut in front of him at a stop sign, according to an arrest affidavit.
Martinez, of 940 Coral Ridge Dr., followed the Infiniti’s driver onto Coral Ridge Drive, passed him, and cut him off, repeatedly hitting his brakes to make the Infiniti stop short, the victim told Coral Springs Police.
When the vehicles reached a red light in the 4600 block of Coral Ridge Drive, Martinez pulled beside the Infiniti, pointed a loaded Smith and Wesson 9-millimeter pistol directly at the driver, and appeared to say, “look what I got,” the affidavit states.
Martinez drove off when the light turned green, records show.
The victim called police, who said they spotted Martinez then riding as a passenger in the Cadillac in the 10500 block of West Atlantic Boulevard about 30 minutes later.
Officers found the loaded gun in his trunk, police said.
Records show Martinez was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, booked into the Broward Main Jail, and released on a $10,000 bond.
He has pleaded not guilty.
