Coral Springs Middle School celebrated a newly renovated media center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and event attended by Broward Schools Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn and community leaders on February 20.
The media center renovation project was made possible through the SMART bond program and is part of approximately $21 million in campus-wide improvements at Coral Springs Middle, according to information from Broward County Public Schools.
Principal Jill Slesinski, who said the school is celebrating its 50th year, is excited about the new media center and the learning opportunities it will offer students.
“This was a momentous occasion for our school and is an opportunity to bring all our community stakeholders who have invested their time and given support to the school.”
The new media center features the latest in educational technology, including smart boards, sound systems, and an engineering lab with laser etching. There is an upgraded broadcast area for morning announcements and a classroom where students can learn about virtual reality. There will also be an area for students to produce the school yearbook.
“We are an A-rated school, and this media center will allow us to provide all of our students with a world-class education,” said Slesinski.
Other improvements to the school that are part of the bond program include HVAC upgrades, installation of fire and smoke walls, LED lighting and ceiling enhancements, and a full roof replacement in Building 1, according to Broward Public Schools information.
