With the fall season of high school sports over, student-athletes from Coral Springs received All-County Awards.
Football
Wide Receiver Tyrique Gordon was selected for Coral Springs High School as an Honorable Mention. He played under Head Coach Fred Flowers and helped lead the Colts to four wins this year against Hollywood Hills, Northeast, Olympic Heights, and J.P. Taravella. For Coral Glades, Carlton Boggs and Johnathon Puddie were also recognized in what was a rebuilding year for the Jaguars. They won only two games, but these players were among five Jaguars selected for the BCAA All-Star Game earlier this month.
Coral Springs Charter had five players receive Honorable Mentions: Dominic Dunn, Preston Griffin, Jordan Richardson, Michael Snow, and Collin Teschky. The Panthers went 4-6 this year with wins over Archbishop McCarthy, Traditions Prep, Northeast, and J.P Taravella. The only player from J.P. Taravella picked was Michael Settles, after the Trojans had only one win this season. However, it was the team’s first since 2020. Settles also competed in the BCAA All-Star Game.
Cross Country
Jeffrey Bellizaire of Coral Springs High School was selected to the First Team All-Conference. He made it to states with a personal best of 16:05.80 at Regionals and finished 48th in the State. Kensey Fredric was also an Honorable Mention from Coral Springs, alongside Jasiah Clapp from J.P. Taravella. Angelica Macarulay and Brianna Williams were Honorable Mentions for the Lady Colts.
Swimming
Coral Springs had two female swimmers named to the All-County Second Team. Riley McCormick, who competed in States from Coral Springs Charter, made it in the 100-yard butterfly, and Mercy McLemore was selected in the 50-yard freestyle. Cassia Flynn was an honorable mention from Coral Glades.
For the boys, Mason Green, committed to Howard University, was selected to the All-County First Team. He was a District Champion in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle and then finished third in states with a personal best time. Green was also joined by his brother Miles Green, RJ Martin, and Mekhi Dawkins on the Second Team 200-yard medley relay, while Sean Doyle of Coral Glades was an Honorable Mention.
Bowling
J.P. Taravella dominated this season in bowling and saw Cesar Medina win County Player of the Year. He was joined on the First Team alongside teammates Evan Kallen and Zachery Kimbrell, while Greg Mason was named Coach of the Year. Bryce Collins and Anthony Mounstaclastle were also Honorable Mentions for the Trojans after finishing as the District 15 Runner-Up and then placing 14th in the State Championship. Tyler Harris of Coral Springs Charter was named to the Second Team, while Derrick Lai was an Honorable Mention alongside Anthony Catalino of Coral Glades.
Coral Springs Charter’s girls bowling team had Alexis Diaz on the First Team, while Danielle Lucas and Faith Tucker made Second Team. Jazz Chung was an Honorable Mention alongside Kaitlyn Cooper, Alexandra Mendoza of Coral Springs High School, and Kaiden Littman from Coral Glades.
Golf
Jade Scott was one of two only golfers selected after being named to the Second Team All-County for Coral Glades. Scott, who has appeared in the States, also won the BCAA Damian Huttenhoff Golf Championship this year. Sophia Quinones was an Honorable Mention.
Volleyball
Coral Springs Charter Alexandra Bruno was named the Broward County Player of the year. She finished the season with 363 kills, 123 digs, 32 aces, and 21 blocks, helping the Panthers win 17 matches and a District Championship. Sydney Mills was picked to the Second Team after finishing second with 125 kills and 40 aces. Sarah Henault and Brittney Stella were Honorable Mentions.
