Time is money, and nowadays, women who color their hair rely on getting the most from both.
Now there’s a way.
ColorOnly is a new business in Coral Springs offering hair color in 30 minutes for only $30.
Their focus is simple — no highlights, no haircuts — just color. Those used to dying their hair can have a higher, more professional, and precise result that’s both easier and convenient than doing it at home.
South Florida entrepreneurs and friends Steven Duchin and Stephen Drescher created the re-imagined 30-minute salon experience through technology and innovation.
Duchin — of Parkland, moved there seven years ago with his wife, Nina, a teacher, and Emily, 8. His family has been in the beauty industry for four generations — from supplies to manufacturing, distribution, and e-commerce.
Fort Lauderdale resident Drescher has been involved in several successful start-ups and came up with the initial idea for ColorOnly in 2018.
“When Stephen presented the concept, I loved the idea,” said Duchin, who believed in his vision and agreed there was a huge void in the market.
For decades, women only had two choices for coloring their hair – expensive salons or boxed dye at home. In the center of The Walk sits ColorOnly’s flagship salon — the first of hundreds planned around the country.
ColorOnly combines the efficiency and affordability of at-home hair coloring with the service quality and results that the salon experience provides.
Meet EMMA, the Express Mixing Machine Assistant. Like a paint mixer, she takes all the guesswork out of custom color formulations and delivers perfect matches every time.
“To be able to have that level of precision and customization is great because you know you’re putting the exact same color on every time,” said Duchin, who hired a team of renowned chemists and engineers to develop and manufacture the first and only ammonia-free 10-minute processing intelligent hair dye.
ColorOnly claims to have the fastest hair coloring process on the planet and the most color selections so DIYers can say goodbye to the smell and the mess of experimenting at home.
New convert Ornella Hernandez said she’s not one of those who like to sit for a long time, but she was hooked when she tried ColorOnly, immediately becoming a member.
“I actually love it. I think the concept is great, unique, and different,” Hernandez said. “The staff is very knowledgeable. There are no harsh chemicals — there’s nothing about it I don’t like.”
The salon opened in September in their preferred location on the south side of The Walk.
“The Walk is a hub for restaurants and businesses,” said Duchin. “People are drawn from Tamarac, Margate, Coconut Creek, Parkland, and Coral Springs.”
A look inside the salon gives a modern yet calming feel. Customers see shades of colors, but there is no odor from the ammonia-free dyes.
Using a conveyer belt type of system, clients go through a simple five-step process. First, they meet with an expert color consultant to select their shade. Then the dye is applied in either a root touch-up or all over. Next, it’s time to take a seat in the processing station, and after just 10 minutes, rinse and dry.
Customers can choose the do-it-yourself dry bar or professional blow-out for an added fee or just head home.
The Coral Springs salon offers monthly memberships for $30, including root touch up, rinse, and shampoo, with 100 percent customer satisfaction. Products are also available for purchase for use by at-home clients in a monthly subscription, starting at $15.
Duchin feels so confident in ColorOnly’s intelligent hair color system that the first color is always on him. New clients are only responsible for an $8 service charge in lieu of a tip. Plus, with an unlimited customer referral program, clients can obtain a free color for any first-time customer who gives it a try.
With multiple nutritional components in the products, Duchin said clients love that their hair feels softer and silkier than when they arrived.
