After the Coral Springs High School boys water polo team won their sixth District championship in the past six years, the Colts followed that up with their first playoff victory in school history.
It came in overtime against Fort Lauderdale high School, as Coral Springs won 12-11 on a game-winning goal from Nicholas Pototsky.
Unfortunately, the Colts fell in the regional finals 18-8 to St. Thomas but completed one of the most historic seasons in school history.
For Head Dan Barbosa, it has been a challenging year due to COVID-19, but he felt his team rose to the occasion. He did not plan on coaching this season, but after last year being cut short, he decided to come back for another year.
“I planned on parting ways with the team last year for personal reasons, but it didn’t feel right after having an incomplete season,” Coach Barbosa said. “I couldn’t be happier that I came back and was able to coach this group.”
