Step into a world of comedic brilliance and electrifying tunes as the Teen Theatre Project of Next Stop Broadway presents “Young Frankenstein,” a spellbinding musical with two not-to-be-missed performances on Saturday, August 12, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The tickets are $25 and can be purchased online or at the Center for the Arts box office.
Next Stop Broadway runs a summer youth acting camp, a four-session program for kids as young as six and up, every year. Kids sing, dance, take acting classes, and have talent shows and dress-up days. At the end of each session, young actors perform a show. This summer, the roster included Peter Pan in June, Beauty and the Beast in July, and the upcoming Wizard of Oz on August 18.
Young Frankenstein is based on a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and Music and Lyrics by Mel Brooks. The musical is inspired by Brooks’ 1974 comedy movie of the same name.
The story centers around Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of the mad scientist who created the famed monster. After learning of his grandfather’s passing, Frederick travels from New Your City to Transylvania to settle his affairs and take over the castle he inherited.
Even though Frederick is initially embarrassed by his predecessor’s legacy of a madman, once the young Frankenstein gets to the family lab at the castle, he decides to carry on the experiments.

“What’s really great about this Young Frankenstein production and the Teen Theatre Project is that the cast is comprised of our community’s most talented young people. They had to challenge themselves to work diligently in a short period of time to pull off this phenomenally comedic production,” said Cynthia O’Brien, Artistic Director of Next Stop Broadway.
With all the memorable show tunes such as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend,” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” Young Frankenstein is “scientifically proven, heinously good entertainment.”
“Come enjoy this spectacular performance and tap your troubles away,” added O’Brian.
