Coral Glades Sweeps Rival Coral Springs as Local Volleyball Teams Earn Key Wins

Coral Glades Wins Rivalry Match Against Coral Springs, Other City Teams Shine

Coral Springs High School takes on Coral Glades in Volleyball. {Matt Rothman}

The high school volleyball season continued with a rivalry matchup between Coral Glades and Coral Springs High School, while several other teams throughout the city picked up victories.

Coral Glades earned its fourth win of the season, sweeping Coral Springs High School in three sets. The Jaguars previously beat Parkridge Christian, Fort Lauderdale and Piper High School.

The Jaguars followed that performance with another victory over South Plantation High School on Wednesday. They will face Monarch High School next Tuesday, September 22, at 4:30 p.m.

Coral Springs High School dropped to 1-6, with its lone victory coming against the Paladins. The Colts will return to action on Tuesday, September 22, against Fort Lauderdale High School at 6 p.m.

Coral Springs Charter suffered a three-set loss to St. Thomas Aquinas High School on Tuesday but responded with a five-set victory over Cardinal Gibbons High School on Thursday. The Panthers improved to 7-6 heading into the Tribe/Chaminade Tournament. Their next regular-season match is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, against Pine Crest at 6 p.m.

J.P. Taravella continued its strong start to the season with two victories. The Trojans defeated Piper High School in five sets before sweeping McArthur High School on Thursday to improve to 8-3. They will face South Plantation High School on Tuesday, September 22, at 6 p.m.

Parkridge Christian High School also picked up its fourth win of the season, defeating Sports Leadership and Management before falling to Sagemont Prep. The Panthers previously earned their first victory against a non-varsity opponent, then added wins over Horeb Christian and Atlantic Christian High School. Parkridge Christian will face Highland Christian High School on Monday, September 21, at 5:30 p.m.
