Another week of high school football is complete, with one team recording a milestone win.
After 11 straight losses against Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Coral Glades beat the Eagles for the first time in school history.
The Jaguars, who have lost all 11 matches by at least seven points, opened the scoring with a strip sack and 70-yard return for a touchdown by Winston Moise. They doubled the lead following a Wensley Mombrunn one-yard rushing touchdown before Jaxson Anger tossed a touchdown pass to Ethan Senko before halftime. Both teams tacked on touchdowns in the third quarter, with Anthony Casseus tossing a touchdown pass to Chris McDonald and Jonah Lennamon scoring for the Eagles.
Coral Glades is now 2-5 this year and will play Boca Raton Community High School in their next game on Thursday, October 10, at 6:30 p.m. The Bobcats are 5-0 this year and recently beat MSD 53-0 in a matchup earlier this year.
Coral Springs Charter beat Northeast High School 17-6 to improve to 2-4 this year. They recorded a shutout win over Pompano Beach High School for their first win and will play Pine Crest in their next game on Thursday, October 10, at 7 p.m. Pine Crest won 36-26 in their matchup last year but is currently 2-4 this year.
Coral Springs High School played on Monday and lost to Monarch High School before having a day off on Friday. They will be back in action on Thursday, October 10, against Doral Academy at 7 p.m. The Firebirds are 3-3 this season with victories over Gulliver Prep, Mater Academy Charter, and Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School.
I.P. Taravella played in a rescheduled game and lost to Everglades High School on Tuesday before they had the rest of the week off. The Trojans will play Cypress Bay High School in their next game on Thursday, October 10, at 7 p.m. The Lightning won 43-3 last year and are currently (record) this year with wins over Marjory Stoneman Douglas and McArthur High School.
