Former Coral Springs Charter star Shannon Doherty has been officially appointed to the coaching staff at the University of Central Florida as a graduate assistant.
A 2019 graduate of CSC, Doherty was a four-time State Champion and went on to play college softball at UCF.
“I wanted to stick around for a lot of reasons, but the main reason is that UCF is a place I call home and has helped me develop as an individual so significantly,” Doherty said. “I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my time at UCF, coach Bear and the program.“
Doherty has been known for her bat, hitting 15 home runs and driving in 115 during your four-year high school career. While at UCF, she hit 35 home runs and drove in 161 runs while hitting .308.
“I’m looking to bring everything I gave on the field, but in a new role. I take a lot of pride in my leadership, and I’m excited to help some of the new girls come into their captain roles and share some of my experiences with them as well as helping them through challenges they’ll face with that.”
