A man was arrested Monday after police say he posted a string of violent messages on social media threatening to kill his former girlfriend, including a message of a SpongeBob SquarePants character holding and pointing a gun.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department report, Henry Marc Anthony Lecourt Mieles, 25, of Tamarac, was taken into custody on November 3 after the father of his ex-girlfriend told officers he had been seen in front of the home following a string of social media death threats.
According to the affidavit, Mieles and the victim had been in a dating relationship for roughly two months. Investigators say the threats were posted to Instagram and included direct written threats such as “I will kill her,” “I’ll blow her house up,” and concerning statements such as that he was “on a path to destruction.”
One message allegedly included a cartoon image of Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants holding a gun and pointing it.
CSPD officers located and detained Mieles near his ex-girlfriend’s home following the 911 call and arrested him.
The arrest report shows that Mieles admitted to sending the written threats. He was transported to the Broward County Main Jail and later released after posting a $15,000 bond.
