A cockeyed fairy tale from Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine is coming to Coral Springs for a single evening performance on Thursday, April 21.
‘Into the Woods Jr.” is a Next Stop Broadway Academy production featuring fourth to seventh-grade actors.
The cast has studied the Tony award-winning play for months and brings to the stage the most iconic of Grimm’s Fairy Tale characters, such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack the Beanstalk.
The musical centers on a baker and his wife, played by Austin Blakely and Lynda Dubrow; the couple wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk.

A witch’s curse makes all of these wishes difficult, sending not just Blakely and Dubrow into the woods but also its large cast of colorful characters the whole audience will recognize from their favorite bedtime stories.
This all leads to the caveat of being careful what you wish for in a stage presentation that brings back songs from its Broadway run, like “Cinderella at the Grave” and “First Midnight.”
Into the Woods Jr. is on Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. Buy tickets online for $25 each, or purchase ‘Student Rush Tickets’ on the day of the performance for $12 each.
The musical will be performed at Coral Springs Center for the Arts, located at 2855 Coral Springs Drive.
