
Farm to Fork Meals in Coral Springs. {Han Okcuoglu}
I’m always in search of ready-to-cook meals. I have an active lifestyle, and like most people, sometimes I just don’t have the desire to cook for the whole week. Enter Farm to Fork Meals, which is now the premier option of all the others I’ve tried.
Farm to Fork Meals has three locations, but all are independently owned. They’re already established in Fort Lauderdale and Miami. I went last week to their newer Coral Springs location and loved what I found.
I had an opportunity to inquire about the store with the very helpful Lucia, and she explained the whole operation.
Apparently, everything they use is locally sourced from farms and producers in the area. They prioritize ingredients with no chemicals and no preservatives. It’s then sent to their giant facility in Oakland Park, where they churn out fresh meals twice a week. She said to expect new deliveries on Sundays and Thursdays.
There were fewer options than other meal prep services I’ve used, but I liked that. I think the more extensive the menu, the less chance they can do everything right. Same as an actual restaurant. Smaller, focused menus tend to mean that what is on the menu is probably of a higher caliber.

They don’t repeat meals more than every one or one-and-a-half months. The meals you buy can even sit in the refrigerator for five to six days unless it’s a salad. Each item came prepared in a microwave and microwave-safe container, needing only one to two minutes with some venting of the cellophane. For those that prefer the oven, it’s 375 degrees for 15 minutes.
The meals start a bit high at $12.99. However, they always have promos running, like their Black Friday specials. They also have more permanent discounts like the one we used for 10% off ten meals or more. Everything can be delivered right to your door.
Farm to Fork has about five categories of meals that can fall. Fit meals are balanced and contain lean protein, healthy carbohydrates, fresh vegetables, and a garnish. They have a Paleo section that replaces those carbohydrates from the Fit Meals with nongluten options and dairy-free.

For example, in the Rosemary Turkey Meatballs with penne pasta Fit meal, the Paleo version would substitute spaghetti squash for the penne and leave everything else as is.
The remaining types are vegetarian, breakfast meals, and a kid’s section with more traditional options like chicken fingers.
What’s great is that for those who are very health-conscious, the front labels of each meal show macronutrients like calories, carbs, and fats. The back label shows allergies and gluten.
For those with a sweet tooth, there were desserts like protein donuts, which are high in protein and low in carbs. Each item was $4.99 or $5.99, which was not terrible considering its size.
Certain items, like the raspberry cheesecake, were fantastic. Other items, like the banana bundt cake or the donuts mentioned above, had a very unpleasant chalky texture, which I’ve noticed before in healthy alternatives. Lucia recommended microwaving the cake for ten seconds, but that didn’t help.
The actual meals, however, were largely all hits. Each protein’s size is notable, with thick cuts of moist chicken breast or large, tender turkey meatballs. My wife and I agreed they don’t skimp on that or the quality of the proteins.
The teriyaki chicken we tried had such a tasty glaze with a hint of sweetness you would expect. The hearty turkey meatballs were falling apart and cooked perfectly, topped with a dollop of delicious pasta sauce. The ropa vieja pulled apart and had this colorful and tangy salsa verde sauce that made me crave more.

The flavors are varied and a step up from the traditional, bland “healthy” meal options where you sacrifice your taste buds. This is not the case here.
My only gripe is that everything needed more sauce. This is almost a catch-22 since more sauce could become a soggy mess upon serving. I get that. Still, I found myself reaching for some soy sauce, for example, and the same for my 15-year-old who tried the teriyaki chicken. There could have been a better equilibrium, even with more sauce or sauce in a separate container.
The final verdict is that this is the most flavorful and filling of any meal prep services I’ve found. For big eaters like myself, extra carbs like mashed potatoes or microwavable rice can quickly be added. For those with an extra 15 minutes, it’s a great base, and some additional ingredients can quickly be whipped up to accentuate what’s already there. And if instead you eat what’s portioned out to you, you’ll feel healthy and clean like you’re supposed to.
