High schools in Coral Springs produced several highly successful teams this winter, leading to many student-athletes being selected to compete in the BCAA All-Star Games.
Coral Glades
The Coral Glades boys soccer team not only had two players compete, but also had the Most Valuable Player and their coach honored. Jaden Lloyd was named MVP and played alongside Santiago Sanchez. Lloyd scored 22 goals during the regular season and helped the Jaguars advance to Regionals, while Sanchez finished second on the team with 12 goals.
Christa Reese and Jasmien Arroyo were selected from the girls’ soccer team. Both players were key pieces for the Jaguars, who won 10 games this year. Coral Glades ultimately fell to Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the District Semifinals after beating J.P. Taravella 1-0 in the opening round.
The boys’ basketball team had three representatives in Kyler Theophile, Jamari Bolden, and Darion Livingston, following another historic season in which the Jaguars won another District Title and advanced to the Regional Final. Theophile, a Kennesaw State University commit, finished as the team’s leading scorer at 14.5 points per game while also averaging 7.8 rebounds and was named MVP of the game. Bolden ranked fourth on the team in scoring at 7.2 points per game, while Livingston played in 11 games and helped the Jaguars set a school record with 21 victories this season
Coral Springs High School
Ethan Perez represented the Coral Springs High School boys’ soccer team, while Jalya Hillard competed for the girls’ team. Perez tied for the team-high with eight goals and helped the Colts go 8-3-4 this season. The girls’ team finished with two wins, with Hillard instrumental in defeating Hallandale High School and Boyd H. Anderson High School. The Lady Colts outscored their opponents 10-0 in those victories.
The boys’ basketball team had three players selected: Matt Croissy, Craig Bryant Jr., and Jamie Davis after the Colts won 19 games this season. Croissy led the team in scoring while all three players averaged double figures. Croissy and Bryant both averaged more than five rebounds per game, while Davis averaged close to three assists. The Colts finished the season with a loss to St. Thomas Aquinas High School in the District Championship Game, then advanced to Regionals, where they fell to Boyd H. Anderson High School.
On the girls’ basketball side, Janyah Holmes, Janelle Swaby, and Niqueaha Cross were selected. Despite playing only 14 games this season, the Colts won nine of them but fell to St. Thomas Aquinas in the District Championship Game and later lost to Mater Academy Charter School in Regionals.
