J.P. Taravella's E.J. Burns is officially set to play college baseball at Florida Gulf Coast University.
"It's definitely a feeling of relief and excitement knowing that you're hard worked paid off and a coaching staff as good as FGCU recognizes me for my abilities and is willing to give me an opportunity and a scholarship to play baseball for them at the next level," Burns said.
Burns began playing baseball when he was four years old and played with South Inferno for nine years. He then competed for Sam Luppino on TBT National, where his team was ranked number one in the country. Recently, Burns joined Todd Fitz-Gerald with the Florida Pokers and also has been a star playing with Joe Giummule on the varsity baseball team.

He is currently in his third season and has helped the Trojans make a run in Regionals the last two years. Burns is hitting .400 with a home run and five runs batted in. The right-hander is also 2-1 this year on the mound with an era of 1.75 and also has 18 strikeouts in 12 innings, including a complete game.
While Burns' attention is on helping J.P. Taravella, he did say he wanted to find a college that believed in him. After seeing the campus and the athletic and academic side of FGCU, Burns made his decision and is excited to join a team that currently ranks 20th in the country.
Prior to attending college, Burns is hoping to improve on hitting and keeping his body in shape in order to make an impact with FGCU right away. Until then, Burns has been a key contributor to JPT and their 7-1 start to the season.
