Paul Gallinal has become the new band director at Ramblewood Middle School. This fall, he took over a program that John Nista, a long-time legend in the Coral Springs middle school band scene, led.
Gallinal, a recent graduate of the Florida International University music education program, knows he is filling some big shoes and often calls Nista for advice.
“Nista is one of the greatest human beings I have known, and he is a huge mentor to me,” said Gallinal.
The Ramblewood Middle School band has 207 members, 40 of whom are in the marching band. It includes three upper-level bands and two beginning bands.
Gallinal wants to continue the Ramblewood tradition of music excellence.
“I want the band to be fun, and I want the band members to know they are part of a caring community. For many students, the band is a family, and they meet lifelong friends here.”
The Ramblewood Band Parents’ Association president, Vanessa Lindeman, is pleased with Gallinal. “He is doing a good job and is a good leader for the band,” she said.
Gallinal is preparing the band for future performances and competitions. The Ramblewood marching band will participate in the Coral Springs Holiday Parade and the Yuletide on Atlantic, the holiday parade for Pompano Beach.
