The seniors from three high school volleyball teams and track and field teams in Coral Springs were recognized before the start of the postseason.
Coral Springs High School has had a terrific week, winning a pair of matches while also honoring Fabrico Monaco, Joel Jobi, and Mickinson Jean-Mary. After falling to Monarch High School in three sets on Monday, the Colts won all three sets against Sports Leadership and Management 25-13, 25-9, 25-19 behind 13 kills from Jobi on Tuesday.
CSHS then beat Deerfield Beach High School 25-13, 25-20, 25-19, with Jobi adding 17 more kills. Miguel Jump and Dazianoi Barrett- Daly each had 10 blocks with Jobi and Msaac Maldonado combining for 21 digs before a 25-16, 25-18-25-15 win over Boyd H Anderosn High School on Thursday. Jobi continued to shine with 14 kills and 18 digs.
The Colts are now 8-5 and will now get set to play Nova High School on Monday, April 21, at 4:30 p.m. before closing the regular season with matchups against Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Coconut Creek High School.
The Colts also feature track and field seniors Lamar Ash Aine, Graham, Jeffrey Belizaire, Magnus Berta, Matthew Campbell, Darventz Charite, Giano Exavier, Zanu Fullerton, Sebastian Marrero, Ravi Persaud, Cashmere Smauels, De’Seasn Stephens, Dimitri Thomas, and Haozhen Yang from the boys team, and Kyra Agarwal, Shaquilea Alvaranga, Za’coria Anestal, Zaela Burke, Gabriella Gentilhomme, Yahaira Mendoza, and Jaylyn Samuels from the girls team.
The Coral Springs Charter held senior Murcillo Boeta, Christian Lecompte, Michael Chin, and Matthew Cardona. The Panthers beat Don Soffer Aventura High School and improved to 6-14 this year. They previously beat Avant Garde Academy, Treasure Coast, Somerset Academy, Coral Glades, and Calvary Christian Academy.
They are led in kills by Aakash Arancherry and Boeta, while Chin and Boeta have shone defensively with blocks at the net. Bryan Kiley leads the team in assists, while Boeta leads in digs. The Panthers will close the regular season with two more matchups, facing Northeast High School on Tuesday, April 22. at 4:30 p.m. before they host Pembroke Pines Charter the following day at 4:30 p.m.
They also recognized their seniors from the track and field team during a practice, which featured Beylian Dejesus and Mason Grech from the boys’ team, Trinity Dorvil, Abigail Foster, Natalia Gallo, Adrianna Harris, Mackenzie Maniscalco, Marissa Micioni, Aliyah Rhoden, and Francesca Schirripa from the girls’ team.
Coral Glades held Senior Night against Fort Lauderdale High School and honored Brandon Reeves and Kianush Tehrani. The Jaguars also recognized their track and field seniors with Madox Becks, Ischmael Brown, Ryan Etiene, Isiah Godfrey, Joel Harrigan, Tyler Kaye, Winston Moise, Quinvy Ocasio, Devin Roman, King Thompson, Jayden Woods from the boys team, and Gina Bido, Lily Bido, Alonna Harrison, Kayla Libertone, Zariya Louis Jeune, Stashae Minto, and Vasthi Pierre from the girls team.
The volleyball team is now 3-9, following wins over Charles W. Flanagan and Plantation High School in five sets, as well as a victory over Hallandale High School in four sets. They will play J.P. Taravella in their next match on Wednesday, April 23, at 4:30 p.m.
The Trojans will be having their Senior Night before the match and are coming off a 25-16, 25-21, 25-12, 25-29, 15-8 win in their last match. They beat Nova High School, which had only lost twice all year. JPT has eight wins in 12 matches and recently had a five-game win streak before it was snapped against Western High School earlier this week.
Before their match with Coral Glades, they will play at Pompano Beach High School on Tuesday, April 22, at 4:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles come into the match with a record of 8-8.
