Coral Springs High School’s top student-athletes from the spring season were recognized after success in track and field, volleyball, baseball, and tennis.
Jeffrey Belizaire and Cashmere Samuels were each selected to join the first team in track and field. Belizaire qualified in the 800 meters and went on to finish fourth at the State Championship. He previously won a County, District, and Regional Title, and he also holds the school record for the lowest time in cross country.
Samuels competes in the pole vault and was a two-time state qualifier. As a senior, he finished in eighth place with a personal best score. He won the BCAA as well as back-to-back District and Regional Titles.
Dalton Chance, Sebastian Marrero, Ravi Persaud, Haaozhen Yuan, and Darventz Charite were all Honorable mentions from the boys’ team. At the same time, Shaquille Alvaranga, Kaela Burke, Trinity Dajuste, Sofia Evans, and Janelle Swaby were picked from the girls’ team.
Marrero came in fourth place at the State Championship in the 400 meters while also helping the 4×100 team finish 11th. Yuan came in 16th at the Discus, while Alvaranga and Dajuste were both at the State Championship for the girls.
Josh Jobi led the boys’ volleyball team to a District Championship and a Regional appearance. The Colts went 11-8, with Jobi recording 303 kills, 168 digs, 30 aces, 23 blocks, and a .392 hitting percentage. He has 24 kills in the District Championship match against Atlantic High School. Daziano Barrett-Daly, Mickinson Jean-Mary, and Jayden Thomas were all Honorable Mentions. Barrett-Daly had 121 blocks to lead the team. Jean-Mary had 530 assists, while Thomas added 277 digs.
The baseball team went 12-14, beating Olympic Heights Community High School in their first playoff game before falling to Deerfield Beach High School by a run. Jaxon Krugman, Angelo Painter, and Natron Wheeler were all Honorable Mentions after Krugman homered and drove in 17 runs. Painter went 3-2 with an ERA of 3.11 while also striking out 40 batters in 36 innings.
Joseph Mullins also had a strong season in tennis for the boys’ tennis team and was named an Honorable Mention. As a team, the Colts completed three matches and won at least two matches individually twice.
