It was one of the most exciting nights of the season on Tuesday, featuring games between high schools in Coral Springs.
Coral Springs High School vs Coral Glades Boys Basketball
The Coral Springs High School boys basketball team beat Coral Glades 63-45 to move to 12-3 this year. Romae Brown led the way with 20 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Matthew Curprew-Elsy scored 13 and 11 rebounds.
“I’m proud of the way we played tonight,” Head Coach Devin Barta said. “Our guys wanted to send a message and dominate tonight and we did that right from the jump.”
The Colts will play Charles W Flanagan High School in their next game on Thursday, January 11, at 7:30 p.m. The Jaguars fall to 8-11 and will face Benjamin High School in their next game before a matchup with J.P. Taravella on January 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Coral Springs High School vs Coral Glades Girls Basketball
The CSHS girls basketball team beat Coral Glades to move to 8-4 this year. CSHS will play Charles W. Flanagan High School on Thursday, January 11, at 6 p.m. The Lady Colts won 64-25 in the first game of the 2022-23 season and are 7-6 this year.
Coral Glades is now 0-9 this year and will play West Broward High School on Thursday, January 11 at 6 p.m. The Bobcats are 2—6 this year with wins over Miramar and Everglades High School. They are also set to compete against J.P Taravella later this month, with the Trojans holding a record of 4-2 this season.
Coral Glades vs Coral Springs Charter Boys Soccer
The Coral Glades boys soccer team won 2-0 against Coral Springs Charter. Santiago Sanchez and Darius Edwards scored the goals. At the same time, the Jaguars also had senior night. They honored Fabrizo Boniello, Marco Mendez, Darius Edwards, David Jimenez, James Araujo, Jordan Alvarez, Damian Maraj, Ian Lemus, and Dane Pryce.
Head Coach Marc Lyon felt that a shutout at home while honoring their seniors was a great way to cap off the night.
Tonight was a night to celebrate our amazing seniors, and the majority of them were here last year through this rebuild and have helped change this program for the better,” Head Coach Marc Lyon said. “The team is really starting to gel.”
Coral Glades is now 6-2-5 this year and will play against Cypress Bay High School on Wednesday, January 10, at 7 p.m. The Panthers are 1-9-2 and only won on November 13 against Westminster Academy. They will face West Boca Raton Community High School on Thursday, January 11, at 4 p.m.
Coral Glades vs Coral Springs Charter Girls Soccer
The CSC girls soccer team picked up a 2-0 win over Coral Glades to move to 7-4. The Jaguars recognized their seniors, Kaitlyn Harter and Asaciah Tyler. Yasmine Centeno, Olivia Menard, Amelie Donahoue, Victoria Benavente and Gabriella Guevara.
The Panthers will now play St. Thomas Aquinas High School after winning 14 games last year. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. while Coral Glades will play Cypress Bay High School on Wednesday, January 10 at 5 p.m. The Lightning have not lost a game this year after making the State Finals last year.
Coral Springs High School Girls Soccer vs J.P. Taravella
The CSHS girl’s soccer team beat J.P. Taravella 2-0 and is 8-2-1. The Lady Colts will face Monarch High School on Wednesday, January 10 at 5 p.m. JPT only has one win, coming against Somerset Prep in their third game, and will play McArthur High School on Thursday, January 11 at 6 p.m.
The Colts have also have had success in boys soccer and are 6-4-2 this year before their game against Monarch High School. While the CSC boys basketball team is winless, the girls team is 503 this year. J.P. Taravella boys soccer team will resume their season on Thursday, January 11, against McArthur High School at 4 p.m., looking to double their win total. The Trojans had their only win against Cardinal Gibbons High School on December 12.
