The Coral Glades baseball team picked up an important victory on Thursday, heading into their big matchup against J.P. Taravella.
The Jaguars secured their eighth win after an 8-3 victory over Olympic Heights Community High School. Kyle Fernandes pitched four shutout innings and eight strikeouts. Asa Lindo, who also pitched in the game, led the team with two RBIs, while Tyler Villanueva and Shawn Whoriskey drove in runs. Jack Kollwitz, Jason Lincoln, Brayden Hoskins, and Aydan Gonzalez all had hits. Gonzalez also scored three runs to improve to 8-5.
“Our kids have been playing some competitive baseball all year long,” Head Coach Joe Franco said. “They stayed the course and kept fighting to secure a win on the road. I couldn’t be happier with this group of kids on how classy they are and how hard they are working on representing Coral Glades High School to the utmost standards.”
Coral Glades is now 8-5 on the season and will play J.P. Taravella on Wednesday, April 3, at 5:30 p.m. The Trojans come into the game on an eight-win streak and are 12-3 this year. They had a pair of wins during spring break and also won 7-2 in their only meeting with the Jaguars last season.
