With school out for the holiday break, three boys’ basketball teams were in tournament action, securing several wins along the way.
Coral Glades and Coral Springs High School each competed in the Sunshine State Explosion at North Broward Prep, and both finished 2–0.
Coral Glades opened the tournament with a 54–31 win over Central Gwinnett High School. Kyle Theophile led the Jaguars with 14 points while adding four rebounds and four steals. Donovan Swain and Brandon Pitts each knocked down two three-pointers and combined for 18 points.
Jamari Bolden led Coral Glades with 21 points in a 72–56 victory against Southwest High School. Ali Allahah added 15 points, and Ethan Jean-Louis scored 11 as the Jaguars earned their 10th win of the season.
Coral Springs High School won a close opener against East Coweta High School, 68–64. Matt Croissy scored a game-high 22 points, while Brandon Ayers added 21. The duo combined for five three-pointers, and Jamir Davis contributed 13 points, including three from beyond the arc.
In the second game, Croissy poured in 25 points, and Ayers added 15 as Coral Springs High School defeated St. Anne-Pacelli High School, 66–59. The pair combined for seven three-pointers, while Davis chipped in nine points as the Colts also earned their 10th win of the season.
J.P. Taravella competed in the Palm Beach Holiday Classic, opening with a dominant 92–40 win over Dreyfoos School of the Arts. Nick Florea scored a game-high 28 points, while Nelson Soutel added 12. Jashayne Lindo and Kymanii Campbell each scored 10.
Florea followed that performance with 29 points in Taravella’s second game, a win over Aubrey Rogers High School. Adrian Diaz knocked down five three-pointers and finished with 17 points, while Campbell added 11. The Trojans fell in their third tournament game, losing 63–55 to Hialeah Educational Academy.
All three teams will resume action in the new year. Coral Glades will face Cardinal Gibbons High School on January 9 at 7:30 p.m. Coral Springs High School will play Cypress Bay High School, while J.P. Taravella takes on Northeast High School on January 6 at 7:30 p.m.
