
Coral Springs Charter Girls Volleyball Hold Senior Night. {CSC Athletics}
The final week of the high school girls’ volleyball regular season featured a rivalry match along with several senior nights.
Coral Springs School began the week with losses against Monarch and Deerfield Beach High School, but knocked off Coral Glades 25-22, 25-27, 25,17, 25-23 in their final match to finish the regular season with a record of 5-8.
The Lady Colts played five road matches to end the year, but featured seniors Zaaiei Ehrke, Ana Cordero, Jasmin Caraballo, Mya Inoa, Stacey Luce, Kayhila Carmon, and Christi Alonso. They head into the postseason as the five seed and will play Fort Lauderdale High School in the opening round on Monday, October 13, at 7 p.m.
The Flying L’s also had five wins this season, with the winner of this game to play top-seeded West Boca Raton Community High School, Deerfield Beach, and Olympic Heights will each have byes before facing off in the bottom half of the draw.
Coral Glades heads into the postseason with a record of 5-10 and recognized Maya Ramos, Crystal Carrera, and Kelsie Reid. The Jaguars are seeded seventh and will play Boca Raton Community High School in their opening playoff game.
The Bobcats are 7-11 this year, but reached the final a season ago. Marjory Stoneman Douglas is the top seed and will play the winner of J.P. Taravella and Monarch High School.
The Trojans went 11-8 during their regular season. After losing to Fort Lauderdale High School in five sets on Monday, they closed the regular season with a 25-25, 25-17, 25-17 win over McArthur High School. Monarch won in five sets in the only matchup earlier this year. Reshayne Elliot, Taijah Taylor, Makayla Smith, Taylor Maffet, Victoria Salcedo, and Camille Camper are the seniors this season.
Coral Springs Charter dropped a match against St. Thomas Aquinas High School on Monday, but responded with a three-set win over Fort Lauderdale High School and a set victory over Westminster Academy. The Panthers also held senior night and honored Angie Barrios, Isabella Nillson, Samantha McMillan, and Mia Luersen.
Next, CSC will be seeded third in the District Tournament and will face FAU High School on Monday, October 3, at 5 p.m. The Owls are 9-11 this year and lost in their only matchup earlier this year with the Panthers. The winner of this match will play either Saint Andrew’s School or American Heritage, while Pine Crest has a bye and will then play either Calvary Christian Academy or Cardinal Gibbons High School.
