The postseason continued in track and field, with four schools competing in the Regional and State Championship.
Coral Springs High School’s top result came from Cashmere Samuels in the pole vault, while Sebastian Marrero finished third in the 400 hurdles and sixth in the 3200 meters for the boys. Zanu Fullerton also came in third in the high jump, with Marrero placing fifth and Benjamin Joseph coming in sixth. Benjamin Joseph, Ravi Persaud, and Jaozhen Yuan all earned points. Haozhen Yuan finished in the top ten in the javelin, with De’Sean Stephens and Cantrell Wright both placing 11th in their events. Samuels went on to finish 17th at the State Championship
Za’coria Anestal, Shaquillea Alvaranga, Michelle Poitier, and Jaylyn Samuels had the best result for the girls, placing third in the 4 x 400 relay. Lydia Gentilhomme, Olivia Higgins, Amelia Christopher, and Alvaranga came in fifth in the 4 x 400 relay, while Lydia Gentilhomme, Gabriella Gentilhomme, Higgins, and Bergyne Darang finished sixth in the 4 x 800 relay. Sofia Evans Trinity Dajuste Shaquilea Alvaranga finished in the top five, and Higgins placed ninth in the 800 meters. After placing in the top five in both hurdles, Alvaranga placed 13th and 15th in her two events at the State Championship.
Devin Roman earned two points for the Coral Glades boys team after coming in seventh in the high jump, and Ezekiel Burrell came in eighth in the 110 and 400 hurdles. Montrial Thomas and Madox Becks competed in the javelin, while Anderson Jean-Baptiste competed in a pair of events. Preston Dennis, Devin Roman, Jordan Blaise, and Ali Abdallah ran in the 4 x 800 relay and came in 13th.
Saniya Swain led the girls with top-eight finishes in the hurdles. The Jaguars had three relays place in the top 10 with Camille Camper coming in sixth in the javelin. Grace-Ann Hermitt, Tamara Hall, Saniya Swain Camille Camper, Keelee Okoro, Saniya Swain, Chloe Martinez, Olivia Chester, Gina Bido, Lily Bido, Daylean Lainez, Chloe Martinez, Zariya louis-jeune, Grace-Ann Hermitt, Zion Tomlin, Nekalia Watt, Angel Sanon and Kamoore Buckle competed.
The Coral Springs Charter boys team is led by Eli Groothius, who finishes sixth in the pole vault. Beylian Dejesus earned an eighth-place finish in the 100 meters, while the 4 x 100 relay of Gerald Tibbetts, Justin Laroche, William Urena, and Elijah Mcdonald also came in eighth.
Adrianna Harris placed second in the discus and shot put for the girls and went on to finish 12th in both events at the State Championship. Kendall Parrott placed fourth in the 3200 meters, and Trinity Dorvil placed fourth in the shot put. Sarah Manigat, Hannah Manger, and Anayah Bell also placed in the top eight.
The J.P. Taravella boys’ team did their best work in the triple jump, with T’Yquez Jenkins coming in second at Regionals and then 16th at State. Scardy Fils, Elijah Vessells, Akeem Beckford, and Ali Mustafa came in seventh in the 4 x 800 relay, while Maleek Lubin finished tenth in the high jump.
Ajah Arscottt shined again and came in second in the 100 meters, fourth in the 400 meters, and fourth in the 4 x 400 relay with Taijah Taylor, Qyrah Spann-Pierre, and Kiana Taylor for the girls. U’Myri Bain came in third in the triple jump, with Katelyn Tenn placing fifth in the long jump and Taijah Taylor finishing sixth in the high jump. Aleah Marriott, Kiana Taylor, Spann-Pierre, Taijah Taylor, and Kiana Taylor came in the top ten. Arscott then came in fourth at State in the 100 meters and seventh in the 400 meters.
