The awards were out for the top student-athletes in Coral Springs following an impressive winter sports season.
Arheanna Bryan of the J.P. Taravella girls wrestling team was named Player of the Year after an outstanding 30-1 season. After spending two years at Coral Springs High School, Bryan enjoyed a breakout year, capturing district and regional championships.
She also placed first at the Tri-County Invitational, Cradle Cancer Invitational, Palm Beach Christmas Classic, and Margate Madness Tournament. Bryan is now set to compete in a national tournament for the first time as she attempts to qualify for the U.S. Open in Las Vegas.
Coral Glades had a pair of First Team selections in Kyler Theopile and Jaden Lloyd. Theopile, who became the school’s first Division I commit after choosing Kennesaw State, averaged 14.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while surpassing 1,000 career points for the boys basketball team.
Gavin Reed earned Second Team honors after averaging 13.2 points per game. Jamari Bolden, Ethan Jeanlouis, and Donovan Swain were named Honorable Mentions. The Jaguars set a school record with 21 wins, captured another district title, and won two games in the regional playoffs.
On the soccer field, Jaden Lloyd was recognized after scoring 22 goals and earning MVP honors in the BCAA Championship Game. Santiago Sanchez added 12 goals and 15 assists, while Theo Domingues-Helman, AJ Greenfield, and Dekair Lawrence were Honorable Mentions for a team that went 11-8 and reached regionals. Jasmine Reese and Christa Reese were Honorable Mentions for the girls’ soccer team, which finished 10-8-1.
Coral Springs High School had one First Team selection in boys basketball: Matt Crosissy, who averaged 14.3 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. His biggest moment came when he hit a clutch three-pointer in the playoffs against Boyd H. Anderson High School last year. The Colts went 19-9 and reached regionals. Brandon Ayers was named to the Second Team after averaging 13 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, while Craig Bryant Jr. earned Honorable Mention honors with 12.2 points per game.
Nethania Noel-Jeune was an Honorable Mention selection for the girls’ basketball team after averaging 14.9 points per game. The team went 9-5 before falling to Mater Academy Charter in the regional round.
The boys’ soccer team finished 8-3-4, with Baran Celik, Jorge Flores, Ethan Perez, and Gabe Villa earning Honorable Mentions. On the girls’ side, Kayla Hillard was recognized after helping lead the team to wins over Hallandale and Boyd H. Anderson.
Coral Springs Charter also had several athletes honored with Connor Macklinley-Barish being named an Honorable Mention for the boys soccer team after the team won seven games. Nia Etienne, Riley Guerrera, Addison Capplis, and Amira Robillard were recognized from the girls’ team after a strong season in which the Panthers went 15-5. Cristofer Carbajal earned Honorable Mention honors in boys wrestling.
