After qualifying in March, four Coral Springs high schools had students compete in the BCAA Championship on Friday at Dillard High School.
Coral Springs High School
Sebastian Marrero led the Coral Springs High School boys team. He came in second in the 400 hurdles and fourth in the 100 hurdles. Jeffrey Belizaire and Cashmere Samuels both placed fourth in their event, with Matthew Wykpisz and Ravi Persaud coming in sixth. Sebastian Marrero finished in the top five in the high jump, with Zanu Fullerton, Ravi Persaud, De’Sean Stephens, Haozhen Yuan, and Cantell Wright all placing in the top ten, with Daryl Myers coming in 12th in the shot put.
Shaquielea Alvaranga, Za’coria Anestal, Jaylyn Samuels, and Michelle Poitier came in second in the 4 x 100 relay for the girls while Alvaranga, Amelia Christopher, Olivia Higgins, Lydia Gentilhomme placed fourth in the 4 x 400 relay and Higgins, Gabriella Gentilhomme, Lydia and Bergyne Darang also coming in fourth in the 4 x 800 relay. Individually, they all shined on the track, highlighted Alvaranga finishing third in the 400 hurdles and seventh in the 100 hurdles. Trinety Dajuste placed at the top during two events. Sophia Evans came in third in the pole vault, and Treasure Reese finished 13th.
Coral Springs Charter
The Coral Springs Charter girls 4 x 800 relay team of Lily Richardson, Mackenzie Maniscalco, Kendall Parrott, and Anabella Thornberry set a school record and placed fifth. Individually, Hannah Manger finished second in the pole vainly, while Maniscalco came in third in the javelin, competing with Jezebel Andrews and Spran. Kendall Parrott impressed on the track with two six-place finishes, with Adrianna Harris and Trinity Dorvil coming in eighth and 12, respectively, in the shot put. Francesca Schirripa also finished in 12th place in her event. The boys had Eli Groothius place fifth in the pole vault, followed by Chase Powell and Jordan Head. William Letual, Brayden Gardner, and Franco Fuentes all competed in the javelin.
Coral Glades
Coral Glades had one first-place finish coming from Camille Camper in the javelin. Nekalia Watt came in fifth in the discus for the girls, while Saniya Swain finished sixth in the 400 hurdles, and Katherine Metellus placed tenth in the 100 hurdles. They also had their 4 x 100 relay team race with Grace-Ann Hermitt, Camper, Swain, and Chloe Martinez.
Devin Roman finished in sixth for the boys in the high jump, while Jordan Blaise came in seventh in the 800 meters. He also finished seventh 4 x 800 relay with Preston Dennis, Caleb Tomlin, and Roman. Ezekiel Burell came in 11th in the 110 hurdles and 14th in the 400 hurdles, while Madox Becks placed 16th in the javelin.
J.P. Taravella
Ty’Quez Jenkins led the boys team to a second-place finish in the triple jump. Wadleigh Valmyr finished four spots back, while Taheim Reid came in 13th. Akeem Beckford, Scardy Fils, Ali Mustafa, and Elijah Vessels finished fifth in the 4 x 800 relay, with Scardy Fils placing ninth in the 1600 meters and 10 in the 800 meters. Vessels also finished in the top 13 in both events, with Joryton Delien, Jonathan Paret, Nelson Marcelin, and Jason Reid all qualifying in the javelin.
The girls were led by Ajah Arscottt, who placed first in the 400 meters. She also anchored the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams to a second-place finish, along with Damari Sibbles, Qurah Spann Pierre, and Kiana Taylor. Spann Pierre and U’Myri Bain placed in the top five, along with Katelyn Tenn’s six-place finish and two more top-ten results from Sibbles. Cara Dennis, Samia Telfort, Allisa Lee, and Janiva Henry all qualified in the javelin.
