The track and field season is officially over following several Coral Springs runners competing at the State Championship.
Coral Springs Charter raced first on Friday and was led by Adrianna Harris, who placed 10th in the discus and 13th in the shot put. Ava Dorvil, Reagan Pinkston, Jordin Sawyer, and Sydney Leath also finished 13th in the 4 x 100 relay, while Kendall Parrott was 14th in the 3200 meters.
Coral Springs High School was led by the girls team, with Olivia Higgins coming in third in the 800 meters. Trinety Dajuste placed 15th and 18th in the triple jump, while Olivia Higgins, Gabriella Gentilhomme, Destinee Cole, and Christina Glasco were 14th in the 4 x 400 relay. The boys team had Jeffrey Belizaire finish in fourth after winning Districts and Regionals, with Haozhen Yuan placing 16th in the discus.
J.P. Taravella had two relay teams compete. The girls’ 4 x 800 relay team placed 11th with Olivia Noel, Raquel Arne, Timya Johnson, and Jada Thelwell, while Scardy Fils, JahRee Pierre, Elijah Vessells, and Akeem Beckford finished 18th in the 4 x 800 relay. Nekalia Welt placed 10th in the discus for Coral Glades, with Camille Camper finishing 18th in the javelin.
Coral Springs also had two college commits compete. Alexi Arocho competed for St. Thomas Aquinas High School, finishing 12th in the shot put after winning Districts earlier this year and placing third in the region. Jaxson Jewell previously won a District Championship in the 400 meters and came in 10th at the state championship. Jewell also came in fourth at Regionals and competed in the 4 x 400 relay race, where his team came in third at Districts and 11th at Regionals. Jewell was also nominated for the Brian Piccolo award, which is named after the late NFL player and South Florida native Brian Piccolo and honors senior athletes for their outstanding achievements in football, academics, and community service.
Coral Springs was also well represented with BCAA Scholar athletes. Coral Glades scholar-athletes were Abigail Forsythe, Kacey Stewart-Bryan, Jess Fele, Megan Cecil, Jenna Walker, and Caleb Tomlin, while Winston Moise was picked for the Picollo award. Belizaire, Rebecca Assena, Yaozhen Yuan, Gabriella Stubblefield, Camden Hulse, and Alex Pierre Louis were picked from Coral Springs High School.
Coral Glades scholar athletes were Abigail Forsythe, Kacey Stewart-Bryan, Jess Fele, Megan Cecil, Jenna Walker, and Caleb Tomlin, while Winston Moise was picked for the Picollo award. Coral Springs Charter honored scholar-athletes Abby Foster, Maria Rojas, Jaide Keen, Adrianna Harris, Alexis Newland, Jaia White, and Carson Dudich. Newland and White were each scholarship recipients. Megan Cecil, Jenna Walker, and Caleb Tomlin, while Winston Moise was picked for the Picollo award. J.P. Taravella had Amoy Baker, Bryce Collins, Ty’Quez Jenkins, Rey Maharaj, Veroni Pereira, Saide Prince, and Sarah Zoughai reconzied.
