
Coral Glades Flag Football. {David Volz}
Coral Glades and J.P. Taravella’s rivalry took center stage this past week, with the teams facing off in four sports.
The J.P. Taravella baseball team beat Coral Glades 10-0 to improve to 12-4 this year. Sebastian Mayfield and Tyler Morgan all drove in two, while Mikael Ghann, Jeremiah McFarlane, and Tyson Robles all drove in one.
Ghann also tossed a shutout and struck out eight while Coral Glades fell to 11-4 after Caleb Kohnert, Tyler Villanueva, and Charlie Beaty all recorded hits. J.P. Taravella will play BR Academy Homestead, Archbishop McCarthy, and St. John Paul II Academy next week, while Coral Glades will face the reigning State Champions in North Broward Prep on Tuesday, March 25 at 6 p.m.
The Coral Glades softball team routed J.P. Taravella 18-2 to improve to 6-6. Dominque Soto led the way with five RBIs, while Aubrey Fowler, Addison Schwartzberg, and Cameron Marques drove in two. Jordin Sharpin and Dilynn Douge each plated one.
The Jaguars also stole six bases, and Scwartzberg earned the win on the mound after allowing only one earned run and striking out seven. They will play Pompano Beach High School in their next game on April 3 at 4 p.m. J.P. Taravella is 5-5 heading into their game against Everglades High School on April 2 at 6:30 p.m.
The Coral Glades flag football team notched their ninth win of the season following a 14-0 victory over J.P. Taravella. The Jaguars had a safety in the first quarter and added touchdowns in the second and fourth to improve to 9-1. Their only loss this year came against Marjory Stoneman Douglas. They have shut out their other nine opponents this season and will play Miramar High School on April 1 at 4:30 p.m.
The Trojans are 3-5 and will face Coral Springs Charter on March 2 at 4 p.m. The Panthers are 5-1 this season and won against their rival Coral Springs High School on Wednesday. Next, Coral Glades will play Miramar High School on April 1 at 4:30 p.m., while J.P. Taravella will face Cooper City High School on April 3 at 4:30 p.m.
The Coral Glades boys lacrosse team beat J.P. Taravella 13-8 and are 5-3 this year. The Jaguars faced West Broward High School in their final game on Thursday, while the Trojans went on to play Spanish River Community High School and will face Coral Springs High School on April 2 at 7 p.m. The Colts are 1-5 and lost 7-6 in their first matchup this year.
The boys volleyball teams were scheduled to play on Thursday, but the match was postponed until next month. The boys are 3-4 this year, while the Trojans are 2-3. Coral Glades will Miramar High School in their next match on April 1 at 4:30 p.m., while the J.P. Taravella will face Cooper City School on April 3 at 4:30 p.m.
