High Schools in Coral Springs not only faced off, but a pair of teams held Senior Night as the spring season continued.
CSC vs CSHS Tennis
The Coral Springs Charter boys tennis team beat Coral Springs High School 6-0 in their only match on March 4, with Gautam Arun, Santiago Garcia Castillo, Tanish Thakar, Baylee Effendi, and Justin Humphrey winning in singles while Nathan Mathew and Shivaan Patel won their doubles match. Joseph Mullins, Kai Van Pelt. Landon Park, Aaron Pinsky, and Joshua Demetrius played singles, while Pinsky and Demetrius also played doubles.
For the girls, Melanie Hernandez, Paige Correa, Manerva Ghantous, and Nikki Shirley picked up wins in singles for CSC, while Hernadez and Correa won in doubles. Sophie Franklin was the only CSHS winner in the number 1 singles, beating Melissa Butler. The Colts have only one win this year, from the girls team against Blanche Ely High School in the final home match for Jenine Brown, Nicole Bustos, Sophie Franklin, Ayanna Johnson, and Ariadna Nava.
CSC vs JPT Volleyball
Coral Springs Charter and J.P. Taravella boys’ volleyball teams faced off, with the Panthers winning 20-25, 25-18, 25-18, and 25-20 to improve to 5-0. Aakash Arancherry led the team with 10 kills, while Sergio Mejio Monnar had eight. Caua Pinto, Murillo Boeta and Jalen McGregor all had four. Boeta also led the team with six blocks, with Camacho recording eight assists and Arancherry securing 20 assists.
Coral Glades vs JPT Softball
Coral Glades beat J.P. Taravella 15-4 in softball, highlighted by a pair of RBIs from Addison Schwatzberg, Dominque Soto, Alyssa Densmore, and Cameron Marques. Carmela Smith and Brian Escobar both had three hits and knocked in a run, along with Elise Salas, Mia Cup, and Sabrina Farrugia. Haleigh Thomas earned the win on the mound, pitching a complete game with 14 strikeouts to push the Jaguars to 3-6 while the Jaguars fell to 2-5.
CSHS vs Coral Glades Flag Football
The Coral Springs High School flag football team defeated Coral Glades 20-9 to improve to 9-1 this season. The Colts are now on a nine-game winning streak after losing to Nova High School in their first game. The Jaguars are 3-7 with wins over Coconut Creek, St. John Paul II Catholic, and Plantation High School.
CSHS vs Coral Glades Volleyball
These two schools also played volleyball, with Coral Springs High School improving to 9-0 following a three-set win against Coral Glades 25-11, 25-12, 25-10. Mark Saintelus led the team with nine kills, while John Decelestino and Quinton Ehrenberg had five. Tyler Aiello had seven aces, and defensively, Saintelus had five blocks. Decelestino added four digs and 30 assists to hand the Jaguars to 2-5. Their victories this year came against South Plantation and Plantation High School.
CSHS Lacrosse Senior Night
The Coral Springs High boys lacrosse team hosted Senior Night on March 18 with Chris St. Gerald, Brendan Kenny, Cole Waldman, and Brandon Toledo. The Colts lost 15-0 to Florida Christian High School and 13-3 to Pompano Beach High School in their next game on Tuesday.
CSC Baseball Senior Night
The Coral Springs Charter baseball team also held Senior night in baseball with seniors Andrew Raucci, Ethan Saaverda, and Dylan Applebaum. Jack Grasso, Shana Scala, Brady Shimek, Vicnent Toloza, and Dylan Stolov are all being recognized. The Panthers are 13-3 against West Broward High School but have a record of 7-5 this year.
