The Coral Glades boys basketball team advanced to the Regional Final following a 71–64 victory over Miami Palmetto Senior High School on Saturday night, while the Jaguars also dominated a city rival.
The Jaguars earned the win in a rematch of last year’s playoff matchup. The game remained tight throughout, with Coral Glades holding a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter and a three-point advantage at halftime. The Jaguars delivered their strongest performance in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers 17–13, and maintained control down the stretch to secure the seven-point victory.
Coral Glades previously opened Regional play with a dominant 77–49 win over West Broward High School after capturing a District Championship. With the victory, the Jaguars improved to 21–7 on the season. They will now play for the Regional Title and a chance to qualify for the State Tournament on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Coral Glades will face Christopher Columbus High School, the top seed and the second-ranked team in the state. The Explorers enter the matchup with a 23–6 record after winning a District Championship and defeating Doral Academy and Western High School during Regional competition.
In lacrosse action on Monday, Coral Glades defeated Coral Springs High School 12–4. Maurico Leja led the Jaguars with four goals and one assist, while Eldon George and Emmanuele Franchini each scored twice. Nicolas Insua added a goal and an assist, and Zaffer Shariefeh and Julian Horner also found the net. Dillan Boueye recorded eight saves in goal. The Jaguars improved to 2–4 on the season after previously defeating the Colts 7–4 in their season opener.
Coral Springs’ lone victory came against South Plantation High School, behind six goals from Matt Jean Bapiise. Tyler King added three goals, Jaylen Hernandez scored twice, and Cooper Waldman recorded three assists in that contest.
The softball team needed only three innings to secure a 17–0 victory over Coral Springs High School on Monday. Elora Operle led the Jaguars with a home run and four RBIs, while Alena Bell drove in three runs. Addison Schwartzberg finished with two RBIs, and Rylee Mello and Mia Cuppo each added one. Haleigh Thomas and Schwartzberg combined to pitch three perfect innings in the circle, helping Coral Glades improve to 3–0 on the season.
The Jaguars also competed in the inaugural Flag Football Showcase. The Jaguars opened with a 12–0 victory over Nova High School before falling to Marjory Stoneman Douglas 13–0 and Boyd H. Anderson High School 27–0.
